Review summary
Based on recent reviews
Powered by AI
The Black Horse Inn generally offers a pleasant experience, with guests frequently mentioning the good Indian food available in the restaurant. Rooms are often described as cozy and include a mini-fridge stocked with breakfast items. While some guests have noted minor issues such as dustiness or difficulty closing windows in certain rooms, the provision of a fridge and condiments in the rooms is appreciated. The pub's lively atmosphere, particularly on weekends, doesn't typically disrupt the quietness of the rooms, making it a convenient stop en route south or for exploring the surrounding area.

a quiet escape

kind manager thoughtful decor excellent food ideal location
The staff was wonderfully kind, and jay, the manager, stood out with really good helpfulness. i appreciated the thoughtful decor in my room. the food was also excellent. I found it worth the visit. the location was ideal for exploring the area.
The bathroom floor was a bit wet by the sink. I had to ensure the cold water tap was tightly closed to prevent any leaks.

The indian menu provides a good meal. I tried the curries and found them cracking. a fridge offered water, milk, cereal, and orange juice. plenty of tea and coffee were also available.

rustic charm!

pleasant smell parking facilities
i totally loved the character of the hotel and that pleasant countryside smell. the parking was super convenient. i felt so relaxed and ready to enjoy my stay. plus, the location was perfect for a quick stopover!
i noticed some breakfast items from previous guests hadn't been cleared away from my room upon arrival, it wasn't a huge deal, but i had to request refills. this caused a slight delay to my morning.

leaking tap unavailable staff
I found a leaking tap in the bathroom. I had to turn it off REALLY tight to stop the leak. There was no bottled water provided in the room. I also saw a spider in the bathroom. Staff were not available except in the bar. This made it hard to ask questions.

cozy room breakfast food indian food wet floor water absence spider appearance
the room was cozy. a good selection of breakfast food was available in the mini-fridge. the indian food in the restaurant was good, i enjoyed it. the room was surprisingly quiet, even though it was a saturday night.
the bathroom floor by the sink was wet. one has to turn off the cold water tap really tight or else it would leak. there were no glasses, bottled water or at least a jug of water in the room. i saw a spider scurry across the toilet.
