4-star Victorian hotel in Bath

Location

Oldfields House is situated just a 12-minute walk from Bath city center and the renowned Bath Thermae Spa. This Victorian hotel retains its charming architecture made of Bath's characteristic honey-colored stone. With on-site free private car parking, it provides a valuable advantage in a city where parking is limited.

Rooms

The hotel offers nineteen beautifully furnished rooms, including the Deluxe Double Four Poster with a king-size four poster bed. Each room has its own individual theme, providing unique character while preserving historical charm. The spacious Superior Double Rooms can accommodate a relaxing start to the day with either shower-over-bath or large shower configurations.

Dining

Breakfast is served in a dining room that overlooks the city, featuring an extensive organic handcooked menu. Guests can enjoy a range of options including a full English Breakfast, Continental offerings, and vegetarian choices. The garden lounge and bar offer a selection of gins, whiskeys, and wines for post-exploration relaxation.

Garden

The well-maintained garden features mature apple and quince trees, providing a tranquil setting for guests. A vintage water fountain adds to the peaceful ambiance, while a natural wooden deck offers a space to unwind. The garden also includes a stylish two-seater for private conversations.

History

Once a pair of charming bed & breakfasts, Oldfields House has a storied history that reflects Victorian elegance. The refurbishment has brought a blend of English and Italian aesthetics, creating an inviting environment filled with fine fabrics and artwork. this boutique hotel is located within a 15-minute walk to the city centre, up a slight hill. the location also allowed me to easily park my car on site for £10 per night. the room itself was clean and quiet, without any disturbances from outside noise. i enjoyed access to the lounge area downstairs too.
the room felt slightly dated. there were some minor marks on the carpet.

Charming Stay with Friendly Staff

excellent service nice selection thoughtful touch
The staff provided excellent service from start to finish. Communication was great. They arranged for balloons in the room for a surprise. Breakfast offered generous portions and a nice selection of options. I appreciated that I could leave my bags after checkout.
I found that the shower did not work very well. There was loud banging in the house during the night, probably coming from the boiler. I woke up several times because of it.
Service
9/10
Staff members were friendly and cute, offering assistance with directions and recommendations. The check-in process was efficient, with clear explanations of hotel facilities and services. Requests for extra towels and information were promptly addressed with a smile.
Rooms
